There is a subtle danger that leads people away from religion, prevents them from submitting to God as their Lord, and ultimately, brings numerous other forms of trouble and distress upon them. This danger is romanticism, which leads people to live, not according to their reason, but according to their emotions; that is, according. to their desires, hatreds, their susceptibility to temptation, and their whims.
Romanticism can be recognised in many different areas of our lives: the clenched fist of a fascist, or the rousing anthem of a communist, are the symbols of the "political" dangers romanticism gives rise to. Emotional people, who make their loved ones the "sole object of their lives." who will commit every kind of unreasonable acts to be with their lover-so, much so as to commit suicide-have all become the victims of this pernicious weapon used by satan.
The most disturbing aspect of the danger of romanticism though, is that an f overwhelming number of people do not see it as a danger at all, nor do they realise either that it is actually a state of mind completely inimical to religion. In 'fact, many view it, not as a dangerous error, but rather as a virtue to be encouraged and widely propagated.
About the Book
ENEMIES IN OUR HOMES
Our ultimate concern must be for our for own hearts and the hearts of our children. We can live in a world where violence is not a norm but rather a rare out-break that, like all things, passes in a world where our children are safe to go to school, where words mean something. This is not only possible, it is the only safe road to take. But it means struggling with our selves and the forces outside of our selves that oppose such a world. In the past men and women gave their lives for the sake of a better world. We should have no less sense of sacrifice for our future and the future of our children and our children's children.
The present condition of the media is at the root of much of what is wrong with our culture. Recent studies have clearly demonstrated the devastating effect that hours of violent media is having on our society, not to mention the hidden harms that have yet to be discovered or disclosed. It is up to us as individuals and as a collective body to work towards changing the present condition and not sit passively as spectators while the erosion of the soul's soil takes place before our very eyes.
