Sir Thomas Roe steeled himself for the mission ahead as the small craft carrying him away from his ship was rowed to shore. Sent by James I to negotiate with the Moghul emperor for a treaty granting unhindered trade, Roe knew it would be difficult. Many men had come before him and all had failed. But he had a plan.
When he reached shore and was striding toward the tent where the local officials awaited him, he saw that they were all seated on their carpets. Roe sent one of his men ahead to tell the officials that they must rise for a representative of king lames. They complied, and Roe proceeded into the tent. The officials then informed the ambassador that lie and his men would have to allow themselves to be searched. Roe knew that his predecessors had submitted to such a stipulation, one group admitting that they had been searched "to the bottom of our pockets." But Sir Thomas, the royal ambassador, would permit no such indignity, and lie returned to his ship.
As it turned out, Roe's calculated demand for deference earned him the respect of the Indian delegation. A compromise was reached; the British agreed to allow themselves to be embraced-whether as a greeting or to see if they were smuggling contraband was left as a matter for interpretation. Standing his ground paid off for Roe and for the British nation for centuries to come.

In the year 600 A.D. a wind swept across the Arabian desert, where, in the little town called Mecca, an illiterate orphan named Muhammad came to be the prophet to whom the word of God was revealed - and the world was changed forever. Herein lies the beginning of the faith known as Islam, a religion that today claims over one billion devout believers throughout the planet. Yet it is a faith more misunderstood than any other in the history of mankind.
This brilliantly produced film takes us on a journey through the Story of Islam, from its humble beginnings 1300 years ago, to its place in the world today. We are introduced to the culture, philosophy and staples of this we. Z of life, which is rapidly being embraced by many in the West. If you are not familiar with the principles of Islam, you will be surprised - perhaps even shocked - to learn of the amazing similarities between the Muslim, Christian, and Judaic faiths.
He called himself "The Greatest" and few boxing historians or fans would argue
his claim. Born Cassius Clay, on January 17,1942, he began his relentless pursuit of boxing perfection at age 12. His bicycle was stolen and a police officer taught him some basic moves so that it would not happen again. Ali won the Chicago Golden Gloves Championship in 1960. Then in Rome, later that year, Ali won the Olympic Gold Medal for the Light Heavyweight division. He came back to the states and embarked on what will be remembered as one of the greatest athletic careers of all time. Ali finally hung up his gloves in 1981 with a record of 56 wins, 5 losses and 37 knockouts and has left an everlasting impression on sports fans around the world.

Follow Ali as he refuses induction into the U.S. Army on religious grounds, embarks on controversial humanitarian travels into third world countries and struggles with Parkinson's disease.
Skill, Brains and Guts chronicles the career of a boxing legend. This is one of the best books on the subject of Sacred art to be written in our times. Burckhardt wrote both in his native German and in French. His range is tremendous: from modern science in its various forms through Christianity and Islam, to symbolism Tit rt, Architecture and mythology. mythology. present work represents Burckhardt's penetrating analysis of a subject that is extremely important but, nevertheless, suffers from a host of misconceptions. A work of
profound importance- defining meaning and spiritual use of Sacred art through its symbolic content and dependence on metaphysical principles. Presented is the art of Hinduism Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Taoism where "the artistic rules of each are not only deducible from existing works, but are confirmed by canonical writings and by the example of living masters."
"In Islam the Divine Art is in the first place the manifestation of the Divine Unity in the beauty.,and regularity of the cosmos. Unity is reflected in the harmony of the multiple, in order and in equilibrium- beauty has all these aspects within itself'. To start from the beauty of the world and arrive at Unity- that is wisdom."
There can be no doubt that Burckhardt blends in a masterly fashion a style that is eminently accessible with an insight of the utmost penetration: "The ultimate objective of sacred art is not the evocation of feelings nor the communications of impressions; it is a symbol, and as such it finds simple and primordial means ...read more
