"While teaching an Arabic Course at Eaton Hall, England, I was delighted to find Imdad-us-Sarf and Imdad-un-Nahv, two books that follow the same traditional and time tested model of success for beginners of Arabic Language that I use in my own courses. The students quickly acquired copies and used them to great benefit as suppliments to my lessons. They are an excellent place to start for new students setting out on the wondrous journey to understanding the language of the Qur'an."
Imam Hamzah Yusuf (U.S.A.)

THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE PROPHET'S HOLY MOSQUE
AL MADINAH
he Prophet's (s) venerable mosque, al Masjid al Nabawi al Sharif in al Madinah, was the first formal mosque built during the course of the establishment of Islam. Its importance thus lies in its being a point of reference for the foundation not only of Islam, but also of Islamic architecture. As a result of the latest expansion and renewal carried out in the 1980s it is the largest mosque in the world, after Makkah, capable of accommodating one million worshippers at any one time. This book not only covers the historical significance of the building and the surrounding city, but also documents the New Extension for the very first time.
Drawing mainly on Arabic sources, previously often inaccessible, the evolution of al Madinah before The Prophet's (s) migration there from Makkah in 622 AD is documented, as well as the story of the Mosque from the time of The Prophet (s) through to the Ottoman period.
The book moves on to document and illustrate the New Extension, covering its conceptualization and design, the renovation of the existing Mosque and a re-evaluation of the nearby areas of the city. The information on the scientific and mechanical research necessary to develop the infrastructure and superstructure is of great value to architects and engineers, as the new design incorporates modern technology and innovative building techniques to present creative solutions within the traditional concepts of Islamic archit...read more
There are so many books on the subject of Hajj in the English language. You may ask, why another one? Well, I have not come across any book on this subject that covers the material, either in content or style, as I have done in this book. This book is a culmination of personal experiences, notes taken over the last twelve years, research from more than fifteen different books on Hajj and various other books about salah and about Islamic behaviour. This book is unique in the sense that it brings together the realities of Hajj, as it is today, personal experiences coupled with the related Fiqh rulings.
