The Tafseer of Ibn Kathir has been and still is held in esteem by Muslims throughout the world. When the reputed scholar Muhammed Naseeb ar-Rafa' I undertook the momentous task of abridging the original Tafseer, scholars and students rejoiced and immediately took to studying the Qur'an on a wider scale. This prompted Al-Firdous Publications to venture into translating the abridged version for the benefit of English speaking Muslims.
During the course of this work, Al-Firdous Publications has become indebted to many Muslims who participated in its production. Al-Firdous Publications would like to thank Allah for this production and, in particular, the following Muslims who endeavoured to make this production possible:
Chafik Abdelghani Ibn Rahal, M.A, for the initial translation of the Arabic and K.Omar Ahmed, M.A., for proof-reading and typesetting.
Al-Firdous Publications would like to take this opportunity to ask Allah to accept this translation of the Abridged Version Of Ibn Kathir's Tafseer, by Muhammad Naseeb ar-Rafa'i. AlFirdous Publications kindly request readers to ascribe its success and verity to Allah and any errors to the translator and publisher.

Islam has always provided an incredibly flexible environment in which women may flourish and achieve their true potential. Looking back to the time of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, women were extremely active in all areas of life. The negative stereotype of the role of Muslim women, which is often trumpeted in the media, stems from ignorance of the reality of the position of women in Islam. This dictionary is a comprehensive reference source of women throughout Islamic history from the first century AH to roughly the middle of the thirteenth century AH. A perusal of the entries shows that Muslim women have been successful as, for example, scholars and businesswomen as well as fulfilling their roles as wives and mothers for the past fourteen centuries. In an age when limiting perspectives have come to be the norm, this is a most timely work.

She is not only learned in the Arabic language but also well-versed in the basic meanings and nature of the teachings and history of Islam. Being herself a Muslim, her knowledge is born of experience and direct transmission, not simply academic theory and learning by rote. For more than twenty-five years she has been concerned with making the contents of many classical works in Arabic more accessible to English-speaking readers for the first time, including Al-Muwatta' of Imam Malik (Madinah Pre...read more

The Prophets of Allah are the greatest men that ever lived. They are the role models for humanity. Their hearts were the purest, their minds were the wisest, and their deeds were the most righteous. But a lot of what is narrated about them is fact mixed with fiction. Neither the Bible nor historical works provide a reliable account of these great men. The myths surrounding the lives of the prophets have even spilled over to some Muslim history books. So then, where can we learn about the Prophets of Allah? The truth about them is learned through the Quran and Hadith.
"The Lives of the Prophets" is a series of lectures delivered by Anwar Al-Awlaki. It is the first such series produced in the English language. The author has done extensive research in the original Arabic resources. The series is based primarily on Ibn Kathir’s " Al-Bidayah wa-nihayah (The Beginning and the End)". Br. Al-Awlaki has done an excellent job of relying almost completely on the Quran, Hadith and statements of the Noble Companions.
Imam Ibn Kathir’s "Al Bidayah wa-nihayah" is considered to be one of the most authoritative sources on Islamic history. Ibn Kathir (700H/1301 – 774H/1372) uses his background as a Mufasir (Commentator) on Quran, scholar of Hadith, and historian to give a comprehensive view on the lives of the prophets.
Even though Ibn Kathir’s work is the primary source for this series, Imam Anwar has consulted other books on Tafsir and Hadith to provide the English-speaking world w...read more
