The Internationally Revered Authorityon World Religions Confronts
the Current Crisis of the Human Spirit
I N this compelling critique Huston Smith, the author of the classic bestseller The World's Religions, presents his passionate, vital message about the suffocation of the human spirit in a world dominated by materialism, consumerism, educational elitism, and governmental and legal systems without morality. Tracing the three major historical periods that have brought us to our current spiritual crisis, Smith advances a hopeful alternative to our predicament. He champions a society in which the human spirit is honored and encouraged to experience its full potential, and religion is once again treasured and authentically practiced as the vital source of human wisdom and the moral compass by which we must steer our lives. Religion-Significance and Meaning in an Age of Disbelief will open a new dialogue about the appropriate place of religion in human experience and society. The passionate and balanced perspective advanced here will help restore a respectful understanding of the undeniable primacy of religion, as well as give fresh appreciation of the curative effects correcting its marginal cultural status.

A well-rounded and straight-forward work detailing the various aspects of the afterlife and the soul's journey after death.
Filling an enormous void, this work details various concerns and issues regarding sex in marriage. With the aid of relevant material from the Qu'ran and Hadith where possible, the author discusses topics such as permitted and prohibited behaviour, issues of taharah, and a question and answer section at the end.

"Every person will taste death. "
Maut (death) is the inescapable event - the inevitable reality - which Mu'min and Kiifir acknowledge. In so far as the Mu'min is concerned, Maut is not the end of lift. It is simply another stage in the onward journey of man back home - Jannat - from whence he heralded.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said:
"Maul is the bridge which unites the lover with his Beloved. "
The Mu'min is the lover and Allah Ta'ala, The Rabb, is the beloved. With death the servant of Allah Ta'ala reaches his Goal towards which he was striving all his life. For those who had lost themselves in the pursuit of fleeting pleasures of a corrupt and contaminated kind, consequently forgetting the Goal and Purpose of life on earth, Maut is a terrible event. On the other hand, the sincere and pious servants of Allah will be greeted by the proclamation:
"O Soul at peace! Return to your Rabb, well-pleased (with Him) whileHe is well-pleased (with you). Thus enter (the association of)My servants and enter My Jannat. " (Qur'an)
Since man - the Mu'min - is the noblest of Allah's creation,He has ordaineda host of rules and rites which the living have to observe in honour of the mayyit (deceased) who passes onto the next leg of his journey to Jannat. KitAbul JanA-iz deals with these rules and rites.
May Allah Ta'ala accept our humble effort and may the Ummah derive maximum benefit from this endeavour, and may it assist in our Najat (Salvation) i...read more
RECONSTRUCTION OF RELIGIOUS THOUGHT IN ISLAM 7
The Qur'an is a book which emphasizes 'deed' rather than 'idea'. There are, however, men to whom it is not possible organically to assimilate an alien universe by re-living, as a vital process, that special type of inner experience on which religious faith ultimately rests. Moreover, the modern man, by developing habits of concrete thoughthabits which Islam itself fostered at least in the earlier stages of its cultural career-has rendered himself less capable of that experience which he further suspects because of its liability to illusion. The more genuine schools of Sufism have, no doubt, done good work in shaping and directing the evolution of religious experience in Islam; but their latterday representatives, owing to their ignorance of the modern mind, have become absolutely incapable of receiving any fresh inspiration from modern thought and experience. They are perpetuating methods which were created for generations possessing a cultural outlook differing, in important respects, from our own. 'Your creation and resurrection,' says
the Qur'an, 'are like the creation and resurrection of a single soul.' A living experience of the kind of biological unity, embodied in this verse, requires to-day a method physiologically less violent and psychologically more suitable to a concrete type of mind. In the absence of such a method the demand for a scientific form of religious knowledge is o...read more
We are living at a time when western civilization is at its peak and the Muslim nations are at their weakest point, dazzled by the power of the west with its wealth, means and scientific and technological advantages. Muslims who do not read history, may well be unaware of the fact that this has not always been the case. A few hundred years ago, it was just the opposite. The Muslim ummah was the superpower of the age and the Muslims were the leaders in culture, science and technology. The cities of the Muslim world were centers of learning to which people came from far and wide, including - as in the case of Muslim Spain - and the lands of Christian Europe.
The Muslims, at one time, were the most technologically advanced civilization on earth, and the uniqueness of their civilization lies in the fact that although they achieved a great deal in materialistic terms, they remained a compassionate society where the poor and disadvantaged were cared for.
This book is a reminder to Muslims that they have a glorious past and that for many centuries they had the upper hand over their enemies. They became masters of the world at the time when they adhered to Islam; when they became preoccunied with worldly gain and the pursuit of luxury, then decline set in.
The muslims adhere to Islam and take their religion faithfully, they will, once again, be supported by the Will of Allah and will again be able to lead the world in all spheres of life.

All Praise to Allah Who made Himself known to His close slaves, with the quality of His Sublimity and Majesty, and lit their hearts as they witness the Perfection of His Attributes. He has bestowed upon them His Blessings, and so they believed that He is the One, the Self-Sufficient, Who has no partners in His Being, Attributes, or Actions; as He (PBUH) has described Himself.
I testify that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah
Who has no partners, and I testify that Muhammad
is His Prophet and Messenger, who was sent as a Mercy to all mankind. He is the best of Allah's Creation, the Imam of pious people, a burden for the disbelievers, and a proof for all mankind.

The book is an obligation to every Muslim, both male and female, to attain knowledge of Islam that is necessary for them in their daily lives. There are many books available on various aspects of Islam in English language, but most of them deal with aspects of general nature.
There are many rulings in Islam that are concerned with Muslim women only. It is the job of every Muslim woman to obtain adequate knowledge of what is addressed to her with respect to her religion.
All these specific issues relating to Muslim women, have been compiled in the book which is in-between your hands, in the form of questions and answers. Each of the questions presented in it, was addressed to world-renowned scholars, both of our time and those who have passed away. In turn, the scholars answered them in simple language and concise manner, so that Muslim women may increase their knowledge of Islam and, eventually, become closer to their Creator.
It is very important for anyone who wants to spread the message of Islam to study the life of the Prophet (PBUH) and discover how he undertook the mission of da'wah (Call to Islam). By studying his seerah (biography), we learn the lessons of patience in the face of adversity and opposition, and the readiness to sacrifice everything for the cause of Islam. In this book, Dr. as-Sibaa` ie shows us how the Prophet's approach was gentle, yet determined and clear-cut, with no compromise on basic issues.
Mustafa as-Sibaa` ie, in the cause of Allah, was a lecturer in the University of Damascus, where he taught seerah (the Prophet's biography). In this book, he draws on his experience in the field and combines it with his knowledge of the seerah. He takes the most important events of the seerah, summarizes them in order to offer a brief overview, then outlines the lessons to be learnt from these events.
This is an excellent introduction to both, the seerah and the principles of da'wah. It should be on the bookshelf of every Muslim who wants to call others to Allah (the Almighty).
