7063. Beyond Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis & the Betrayal of Christianity
By Brandon Toropov

The book is called Beyond Mere Christianity for two reasons. First, in response to C.S. Lewis' influential 1952 work, Mere Christianity, which stands as a masterpiece of Christian apologetics. The second reason, perhaps less obvious, is that a case can be made, based on current, responsible Gospel scholarship, that Jesus was calling his people to the Salvation that lies beyond the worship of the merely created, the Salvation that relies instead on the direct worship of the Creator. I believe emphatically that the authentic words of Jesus invite us to move beyond what is conventionally understood as Christianity for this Salvation.

7066. Studies In Literature With A Complete Hadith Terminology
By Omar Ahmed Kasir

Islam, a Religion that Promotes Knowledge Allah says, (Read: In the name of your Lord who created Man of a blood-clot. Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous who taught by the Pen, taught Man, what he knew not") These are the first verses revealed to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad 4. They comprise all spheres of knowledge: "Reading", "Pen" and "knowledge". Therefore, Islam is a religion that promotes Knowledge. Thank our Almighty Allah who, though bestowing knowledge upon Adam, elevated the latter to a better and higher position than the Angels themselves. It is no coincidence that the word "pen" emerges here, for the human mind, which is such an incredible "storage unit" for "data", has only a limited horizon for the assimilation of all information it receives. It is a perfect combination of "read", "store" and "write"; for you can always come back to it. Briefly, the pen is very significant in that it is a means of recording ideas and the like. That is how we came to learn about ancient civilization and so forth. We deduce that there is an organic relationship between the above-mentioned items in these verses. Hence, reading and writing are vital for the acquisition of knowledge. The "Qalam" or "Pen" is another Surah (Chapter) in the Qur'an that is indicative of writing as a way of learning. A number of Qur'anic verses and "Hadith" refer to the great value of " 'ilm" (Knowledge) and "Ulama" (scholars) in Islam. It is a religion, which urges its followers to reflect o...read more

BISMILLAH ARRAHMAN ARRAHEEM (In the Name of Allah, Most gracious, Most Merciful) INTRODUCTION: by MR. AHMAD FARAAJ (All praise be to Allah, Who has revealed the Book to Hi Servant, wherein there is no deviation. He has made the way straight, warning the disbelievers His Seven Punishment, and giving glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah Alone, with no partners, the Creator, the Inventor of all things the Bestower of forms, Who said: (Say: "Behold all that is it the heavens and the earth;" but neither signs nor warners benefit those who do not believe). 7068. Tafseer Al-Muawwidhatayn- Explanation of Surah al-Falaq, Surah An-Nas
By Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyah

All Praise is due to Allah, we seek His Help, and we seek His Protection against the evils of our bad deeds and ourselves. He, who is guided by Allah, none will lead him astray, and he, who goes astray, has no guide (to the right path). I testify that there is no deity, worthy of worship, but Allah (SWT) Alone, and I testify that Muhammad (SAW) is His Servant and Messenger This edition, which I present to the reader, is "Tafsir Al Mu`awwidhatayn", a valued subject of Ibn Al-Qayyim AlJawziyyah, taken from his book "Badai` Al-Fawa'id". It is a sound proof of his vast knowledge, and his extensive research in the knowledge of the interpretation of the Qur'an. This subject was initially taken from the book named above and published exclusively by Professor Qusay Muhib-ud-Din. Having read it, I found some errors in the extraction of the Verses of the Qur'an, and believe that these errors were not due to the author; they were either copying errors from the publisher, who unintentionally missed out some numbers, or of the printers. So I sorted out the references of the Verses of the Qur'an, and also introduced the extraction of the Prophet's Traditions that were mentioned in the book. With the Help from Allah (SWT), I managed to produce the following: A short biography of the author - Extraction of the Verses of the Qur'an, giving the name of the Surah and number of its Verse - Extraction of the Traditions (Ahadith) of the Prophet

7069. Beware of Dajjal and Gog and Magog
By Magdy M. Al-Shahawi

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Verily, all praise is due to God, Allah the Almighty. We praise him and seek His guidance and forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from our bad deeds. Whosoever has been guided by Allah, none can misguide him. We bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, being alone, without partner or associate. And we further bear witness that Muhammad is His bondsman and messenger. The best speech is that of the Qur'an, and the best guidance is that of Muhammad (SAW) and the wicked matter is that of heretic innovations, and each heresy is an error. (0 you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared and die not except in a state of Islam) (Al-Imran: 102) (0 mankind! Fear Your Guardian Lord, Who created you from a single person, created, out of it, his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- fear Allah, through whom you demand your mutual ( rights), and be heedful of the wombs ( that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you) ( An-Nisaa: 1) (0 you who believe! Fear Allah, and make your utterance straight forward: that He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: he that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has already attained the great victory) (Al-Ahzab: 70-71).

7072. Muslim Contributions To World Civilisation
By M. Basheer Ahmed

Islam's brilliant contributions to science, art, and culture, are a timeless and precious heritage, which should be historically preserved for future generations. The great achievements of Muslim scholars are rarely if at all acknowledged in formal education, and today their identity, origins and impact remain largely obscure. This collection of papers aims to give readers a brief introduction to the intellectual history of Muslims and the contributions that eminent Muslim scholars have made in certain specific fields of knowledge including basic and applied physical and biological sciences, medicine, legal and political theories and practices, economic and financial concepts, models, and institutions, etc. The preservation of civilization necessitates a better understanding, sharing, and recognition of our common human heritage. Given today's widespread negative stereotyping and falsely generated misunderstanding of Islam and Muslims, the publication of these papers on "Muslim Contributions to World Civilization" is vital to help repair the wrong that is being perpetrated and restore the historical truth, which is being distorted.

7073. Issues in Contemporary Islamic Thought
By Taha Jabir Al-Alwani

This collection of papers presents a reformist project calling upon Muslim intellectuals and scholars everywhere to comprehend the vast breadth and depth of the crisis engulfing Muslim thought today and the necessity of solving this crisis to enable the Ummah to experience a revival and fulfill its role among the nations of the world. The reader will find a variety of articles dealing with this intellectual crisis, these include a chapter on ijtihad's role and history, important since our intellectual problems cannot be solved without the scholars' use of independent reasoning and creativity. Another discusses imitation (taqlid) calling upon Muslim scholars and intellectuals to abandon imitation and to stop favoring the past over the present when trying to solve modern problems. Another looks at human rights. "It is refreshing to read a work by a traditional scholar dissecting the mental climate of the Muslims as they enter the first decade of the new millennium. Considering his background it takes great courage for Shaykh Taha to expose what he sees as intellectual reductionism dominating some Islamists. The Muslims today are sleeping over an accumulated treasure of ideas produced by creative thinkers of the past. Shaykh Taha puts up a vigorous case for a new practice of ijtihad, which could not be operational without recourse to the rich legacy of intellectual resources." 7074. Imam Al-Shatibi's Theory of the Higher Objectives and Intents of Islamic Law
By Ahmad Al-Raysuni

With the end of the early Islamic period, Muslim scholars came to sense that a rift had begun to emerge between the eachings and, principles of Islam and Muslims' daily reality nd practices. The most important means by which scholars ought to restore the intimate contact between Muslims nd the Qur'an was to study the objectives of Islam, the auses behind Islamic legal rulings and the intentions and goals underlying the Shariah, or Islamic Law. They made it clear that every legal ruling in Islam has a function which it performs, an aim which it realizes, a cause, be it explicit or implicit, and an intention which it seeks to fulfill, and all of this in order to realize benefit to human beings or to ward off harm or corruption. They showed how these intentions, and higher objectives might at times be contained explicitly in the texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, while at other times, scholars might bring them to light by means of independent reasoning based on their understanding of the Qur'an and the Sunnah within a framework of time and space. This book represents a pioneering contribution presenting a comprehensive theory of the objectives of Islamic Law in its various aspects, as well as a painstaking study of objectives-based thought as pioneered by the father of objectives-based jurisprudence, Imam Abu Ishaq al-Shatibi; in addition, the author presents us with an important study of al-Shatibi himself which offers a wealth of new, beneficial information about the life, t...read more

7076. The Islamic Conquest of Syria
By Al-Imam Al-Waqidi

The Islamic Conquest of Syria "Glory be to Allah, the keys of Syria have been given to me," proclaimed Rasulullah (SAW) at a time when Muslims were facing complete destruction. Yet fourteen years later, Yazid bin Abi SufyL marched into Caesarea, the last Roman stronghold of resistance in Syria. THE ISLAMIC CONQUEST OF SYRIA, is the first complete English translation of Futbhush5m, the ninth century Arabic classic detailing the Muslim advance into Syria. The English reader has, for the first time, the opportunity to read about the great epic struggle of a small ill-equipped band of Muslims that overthrew the superpower of their day. Events only briefly mentioned in other books are graphically described here, such as the Battle of al Yarmuk, which changed the course of world history. The great personalities of early Islam are brought to life in a unique way. The strategies of Khalid bin al-Walid 4, the piety of Abu `Ubaydah al-Jars: the bravery of Dirar al-Kindi and many more are vividly described. ne text also sheds light on some lesser known aspects of Islamic history such as the significant role of women and Roman princes who had embraced Islam. AL IMAM AL WAQIDI, the great historian, was born at the beginning of 130 AH in al-Madinah, where he began his studies. He migrated to Iraq in 180 AH during the reign of Mamun ar-Rashid. 7078. Slaves of the All-Merciful
By Shaker al-Bayoumi

In the final verses of Surat al-Furqan, Allah describes the special characteristics of those elite human beings whom He has raised to a high status both in this world and the Hereafter. They are the ones whom Allah has honoured by joining their names with His. They are the ones who will be safe on the Day of Judgement. They are the ones whose souls are tranquil and whose hearts have found peace. They are the Slaves of the All-Merciful. The Slaves of the All-Merciful are living proof of the authenticity of the Message of Islam. They have struggled with their selves and increased their devotion until they have become beloved to Allah, and He has purified their hearts. If we desire to be one of them, if we long to attain to their exalted ranks, we must hasten to learn about their special qualities and strive to imitate them. Mohsen Shaker al-Bayoumi gave first delivered the contents of this book as Friday sermons in Arabic in Kobe Mosque, Japan and later added more detail to them. His lectures were transcribed and translated by Abd an-Nur Anthony Brewer for the English speaking congregation and subsequently compiled in book form.

Allah (swt- put Arabic for this) says concerning them in the Glorious Quran: If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, We shall expiate from you your (small) sins, and admit you to a Noble Entrance (i.e. Paradise) [Quran 4:31] Although the major sins are many, close to seventy according to Ibn 'Abbas (RA), the following hadeeth highlights the seriousness of such sins: The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Avoid the seven things that doom a person to Hell.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are they?” He said, “Associating others with Allah (shirk); witchcraft (sihr); killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden to kill, except for a lawful reason; consuming riba; consuming the property of orphans; fleeing from the battlefield; and slandering chaste and innocent believing women.” [Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2615; Muslim, 89] It is therefore of paramount importance that Muslims gains knowledge about these major sins and do their utmost to avoid them. In this major sins series, Imaam Abu Usamah goes through the book “Kitaab ul-Kabair” (Book of major sins) written by the great scholar of Islam, Imaam At-Thahabi (put here arabic for rahimullah)...read more
