10. Towards Understanding the Quran: Abridged version of Tafhim al-Qur'an Pocket Size
By Sayyid Abul A'la Mawdudi

Towards Understanding the Quran: Abridged version of Tafhim al-Qur'an Towards Understanding the Qur'an Abridged version is a fresh English rendering of Tafhim al-Qur'an, Sayyid Mawdudi's monumental and masterly Urdu translation of the Qur'an and a selection of his commentary. Here is a work with a difference, by a scholar of an entirely different sort. An immense wealth of profound understanding of the Qur'an is here, a vast treasure of knowledge and deep insight, and a valuable exposition of some social, political, economic and legal teachings of the Qur'an. But what makes this work unique is that it presents the Qur'an as a book to be lived by, a mission to be lived for, and a duty that a reader can no longer evade or postpone. This rare quality is imparted not only by the depth of his scholorship and style of exposition, but also because Sayyid Mawdudi lived by what he expounded as his life abundantly proves.

11. Lets Learn to Recite the Quran
By Syed Ahmad Semait

Let’s Learn to Recite the Quran This manual is not intended to be a “Teach yourself to recite the Quran” instruction book. It should instead be used as a guide, with the assistance of a teacher, to learn the principle of Quranic recitation and pronunciation. Efforts have been made to simplify the learning process as much as possible for English-speaking readers. Readers are encouraged to become acquainted with the Arabic script and pronunciation as soon as possible so that they can dispense with the English translation or make use of it only when the need arises to counter-check doubts in pronunciation. This manual is only the first stage to introduce the beginner to the recitation of the Quran. However, the complete mastery of this stage is crucial and subsequent practice will lead to confidence, fluency and make the recitation of the Quran a joy for the reader and the listener.

12. The Miracles Of The Quran
By Shaykh Muham Al-Sha'rawi

Shaykh Muhammad Mitwalli ash-Sharawi For Muslims, the Holy Qur'an is an inexhaustible and hauntingly beautiful source of guidance, consolation and enlightenment. Above all, it is the very Word of God as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and protected for all time against falsification. Muslims' absolute certainty on this point is often difficult for others to comprehend, however majestic and eloquent the text, even in translation. Shaykh ash-Sharawi, a distinguished contemporary scholar from Egypt, has written a book designed to be read by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. In plain and wholly logical language, ash-Sharawi presents objective and well documented evidence of the miraculous nature of the Qur'an. The Miracles of the Qur'an, now presented in a fluent English translation, is divided into three parts. Part 1 discusses the nature of miracles and examines those linguistic and rhetorical characteristics of the Holy Qur'an which Muslims believe - and history had shown to be inimitable by man. In parts 2 and 3 the author demonstrates, by profound analysis of numerous passages from the text, that the Qur'an contains irrefutable proof of its direct Revelation from Allah, the Omniscient Creator. This authoritative and highly readable book is essential reading for anyone concerned in understanding the nature if the Holy Scripture of Islam

16. In the Shade of the Quran Vol. 3: Surah 4
By Sayyid Qutb

Ever since its revelation 1400 years ago, the Qur'an has been a book of guidance and inspiration, a reference point, and a rich source of social and moral dynamism for LA hundreds of millions of people throughout the world who believe it to be the immutable word of God. Hardly a generation passes without a fresh attempt to unravel the meanings of the Qur'an and gain deeper insight into its universal message within a contemporary perspective. In the Shade of the Quran is more than `just another' commentary; yet it is not too over-reaching or outlandish to be a completely new interpretation. It is an earnest, sincere and sober look at man's contemporary achievements and difficulties in the light of the message of the Qur'an. It is an effort to vigorously explore its rich wisdom, and expand its invaluable guidance for the benefit of an increasingly `sophisticated', yet highly perplexed modern society. The work, which is by far Sayyid Qutb's largest and most profound, spans the whole of the text of the Qur'an. It was written, and partly re-written, over a period of more than 15 years, most of which the author had spent in Egyptian prisons, during the 1950's and 1960's. In it is embedded Sayyid Qutb's insight, highly esteemed intellectual vigour, and his widely-acclaimed literary prowess. In the Shade of the Qur'an has been universally recognised as an outstanding contribution to Islamic thought and scholarship, to which students and scholars, as well as contemporary Islamic rev...read more
