The Igal is worn mosty in the gulf, but people af far as the kurds i Turkey and the palestinians in Falastin wears'em. Normal Gulf clothes is. a thobe (dishdasha), the shwak (trousers), and the headcover. The headcover consists of 3 pieces, the Taghiya (use Kufi scull caps), a shumagh (red/white patterned or black/white pattern) or ghuthra (pure white scarf, mostly worn i the summer) and then the last part The igal.
how to wear it!:
Place a taghiya on the skull,
Then bend the shumagh on the middle and place the scarf so that the middle corner of the scarf is pointing backwards, then gently press the igal down on yourhead.
there are different ways of wearing the scarf some people mainly in the gulf throw the endpices acress eachother så the scarf kind of forms a triangle on the head. some people just wear it as they like.
as for the sizes, In the Gulf you buy them i different sizes.(42 - 62 cm) There is also up till 27 different models. some with beads, some are thick, some are made of this nylon/acrylic kinda stuff.
wheather it is a "muslim" headwear is uncertain, but i can refere to the Hadith saying. the difference between the kufars and us is that we wear scarves over our hats.
I knowthe U.S. forces has applied every U.s. soldier with a shumagh in Opreation deserstorm.

Salaamu Aleikum Brothers and Sisters
I just get my very first Iqal and now i need some advice how i use it?? I have try several ways but it never look Islamicway/Muslimway. I want practice + Lessons before i go out for it and i do not want to look like idiot. I want to look like Real Muslim.. well in my case Converted muslim but anyway. You get my point.

It is the "rope" that sits on the head to keep the scarf in place. I am note sure what is written on the label - I assume its just the manufacturers label. |

I do not think there is any particular significance other than it is cultural headgear. It is worn on the head over the scarf. If I mention the word 'sheikh' I am sure your mind will immediately call up an image. |

Is this item adjustable?? I purchased one much like this not long ago from another website, but it was too large. If it is not adjustable, or does not come in differing sizes could you point me to a retailer where I might buy one in my size?

I received this igal, about 2 weeks ago. It is very nice and I rated it highly. The one I received though, did not have tassels on it, as in the photo. Do they not all have them, or was mine left out?
