This is the genuine quality scarf made from fine cotton. Also known as keffiyeh, shemagh or PLO scarf. Worn traditionally by the palestinan people and desert tribes. Millitary personel have also adopted the scarf and more recently it has become a fashion accessory
delivered on time and the scarf was of good quality, very brightly colored red (as oppose to the dull color of the picture) only complaint is some loose thread on the tassels i had to retie myself

Yes, it came with tassles. Good quality and well made, but not as thick and of the same quality embroidery as the ones I've owned for 20 years. On the other hand, yours was much less money, even 20 years later. Thanks!

Not as good quality as the black keffiyah - the fabric is less comnfortable, and embroidery has some faults.

This looks like a beautiful scarf, and I'm looking forward to buying it...but it is the one pictured, right? I see that it says "No Tassles" in the description, and there's no tassles in the picture either. I'm just cautious about making sure about things like this. Thanks.

With regards to the question from buster on the significance of the colours; they do have significance within the various factions of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO).
The iconic black and white keffiyeh is associated with Yasser Arafat's secular Fatah, green is the colour adopted by Islamist groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, whereas red (as pictured) is for the socialist/marxist groups, such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
Hope that answers your question.

In the picture it is folded into a triangle and then 1 end is tucked under another at the back - with the ends falling over the chest and are hidden by the front piece of the scarf.

As far as I am aware there is no significance of the scarf at all. It is just a cultural piece of clothing.

Could you tell me if the red ones you are selling are 100%cotton? Are they thicker cotton or thinner? Does it have any tassles. In the two photos you have two different kind. The one around the guy's neck is different than the one on the head. Which one are you selling? How long it will take to have it shipped to the US?
Thanks a lot,
A
By Andreea Farcas on
05.09.2008
Shipping to the US takes 5-10 days depending where you are. It is a medium weight cotton, without the tassles. It is much better quality that the fashion scarves out there right now.
